ORCHIDS

While a continuation of Mazandi’s nature-centric themes, the origin of her orchids is a rare accident. Essentially, if she work the porcelain or other ceramic material of an intended carved piece past its patience, it will begin to collapse on itself. Never wishing to waste her efforts or the material, Mazandi finds herself shaping these mishaps into orchids.

The results are objects Mazandi intends for display either as table or wall-mounted sculptures as well as other variations, one of which involved enveloping a chosen orchid in a pod created of bronze, a protective shield.
